Last week I attended the Financial Service Institute’s (FSI) OneVoice conference along with two of my team and was thrilled to see so many of you in person. 2024 advocacy initiatives: FSI released a paper on regulation by enforcement, describing concerns and proposing changes. FSI leaders also discussed other priorities for 2024 including diversity, Next Gen, the standard of care and the independent contractor status. President and CEO Dale Brown; Vice Chair Tim Stinson; and Robin Traxler, SVP, Policy and Deputy General Counsel, provide comments.

The advice crisis: At OneVoice, Christian Nwasike, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Association of African American Financial Advisors, discussed with us the organization’s successes and the upcoming crisis gap in financial advice for Black households.

A name with meaning: We spoke with Realta Wealth CEO Kevin Keefe and COO Mark Helliker on the firm’s rebranding exercise, its recent and ongoing initiatives, and opportunities they see among high net worth clientele at OneVoice.

Backfiring biases: Mark Pearson, Founder and CEO of Nepsis, analyzed five biases that drive investment choices, providing solutions and strategies for advisors to help their clients overcome them.

A dedicated sales team: Intention.ly Partner, Head of Sales Consulting Kyle Hiatt made the case that advisors are not the sales team and discussed the advantages of building a dedicated sales team and issues RIAs should consider.

Wirehouse recruiting: How does a firm stand out in wirehouse recruiting? Amanda Dolan, Head of Advisor Recruiting at RBC Wealth Management – U.S., said to put forward your cultural distinctives, focus on smoothing the transition and wear your differences on your sleeve.
