The firm’s modular, mobile-friendly educational service teaches advisors about alternative investments while offering CE credits and Mercer provides due diligence services on all its funds.

The firm received numerous capital injections this year, including $225 million by Apollo, Franklin Templeton and Motive Partners, $100 million from Reverence Capital Partners and an undisclosed amount from Hamilton Lane.

Crystal’s founders began investing in private funds in 1994, and the firm now offers thousands of advisors access to institutional private funds, including private equity, private credit, special purpose vehicles and hedge funds.

The firm builds its reputation on providing a conflict-free manager selection process, receiving no compensation from the managers on its platform or placement fees for distribution. The firm’s software allows advisors to create diversified, institutional portfolios to complement the clients’ other investments and replicate the Ivy League endowment model.
