Technology’s Deep and Lasting Impact on Wealth Management

Wealthtech Innovations Abound Across Crypto, Compliance, Retirement and Beyond, WSR Pathfinder Awards Winner Counsels Industy to Promote Awareness for Women

Larry Roth, CEO, Wealth Solutions Report

To My Fellow WSR Community Members:

In the 1980s, we thought a 25-inch color television the size of a table embodied all the progress technology could ever muster. Then technology exceeded our imaginations with billboard-sized flatscreens and on-demand videos through a pocket device.

In a similar way, technology’s astonishing advancement over just the past few years in the wealth management industry gifted us with better products, higher volumes of accomplishment with more productive work hours and increased lifestyle flexibility.

For this short holiday week, I directed my editors to survey news in the world of wealthtech, noting the underlying currents where technology drives us forward, gives us a competitive edge, relieves headaches and frees us to accomplish higher-value tasks.

So this is technology? Amazing!

We also bring you the advice of a WSR Pathfinder Awards winner on advancing women in wealth management.

This Week’s Issue

Here’s what we have for you this week:

  • In the Newsmakers Roundup, our Wealthtech World compilation of the latest tech-related news in wealth management covers broad ground, ranging from a new Canadian cryptoasset fund and regulatory compliance on Zoom calls for work-from-home employees to product innovation and Robinhood’s anticipated move into retirement plans, all as the T3 Advisor Conference approaches in early May.
  • In our On the Rise section, we spent time with WSR Pathfinder Awards – Top Women CMOs in Wealth Management recipient Meghan McCartan, Managing Director, Head of Marketing at Hightower Advisors, who shares advice on women’s advancement, including promoting awareness of our industry and its benefits to female students and career changers.
  • Our Beltway & Beyond section includes expert commentary from Dale Brown of FSI about the escalating fight to protect independent contractor status for financial advisors in the independent wealth management channel, and how this has become a multi-front battle.
  • Be on the lookout next week as we cover an eye-opening discovery by BridgeMark Strategies that will change the way you view the recruiting wars, with thoughts and reactions from multiple industry experts.
Everyday, we’re grateful for you!

We are grateful for your time and interaction with the WSR Community, your contribution to our common industry and sharing our articles on social media and via email.

We always appreciate your ideas, suggestions and comments! Keep sending them!

Have an excellent holiday weekend, and for those who celebrate Easter or Passover, I hope you and your families have a wonderful time together.

Cheers!
