Dave Ramsey’s company is in a court fight with Marriott after a dispute over coronavirus restrictions at one of the hotel chain’s Orlando-area locations prompted it to relocate one of its conferences.
In a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee in Nashville, Ramsey Solutions claimed that it suffered $10.1m in damages after it moved its 2020 EntreLeadership Summit from the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. to its headquarters in Franklin, Tenn. just weeks before it was set to take place in July of that year. In addition to the $10.1m in damages, the company is also trying to recoup the $1.2m it has already paid the hotel chain.
Marriott has countered that Ramsey Solutions cancelled its contract without any legal justification, and that the company therefore owes Marriott an additional $658.6k under the contract’s cancellation policy.
